We started by talking about the project. Zac talked about his friends' dorm room that's too humid. I told them to come talk to me if they weren't sure how to go about finding a client. We also talked about getting the arduino to turn something on.
All but 3 brought their own laptops so I had all of them install from arduino.
everyone got the "blink" example to work
Zac helped a lot by checking people off
everyone then made changes to "blink"
change the rate
change the pattern
Tom used functions and variables so we talked about that a little
mentioned the DRY (don't repeat yourself) principle
I passed out the TMP36 probes and they all used this site to get it hooked up and working
note that if you put it in backwards it gets really hot
note that if you switch the right two wires you get negative readings
note that you have to show them tools->serial monitor
I asked them to make sure they understood the code and then I went around to each and made one change to their code and asked them to predict and then test the change
changed voltage /= 1000 to voltage += 1000
changed temperatureF to temperatureC in the serial.println command at the end
